Natural Gas and Electric Distribution Businesses in New Hampshire
Opening of local walk-in Customer Service Centers in 2013; more than 60 new jobs created
Salem, N.H. – July 3, 2012 –Liberty Utilities Co. today announced the completion of its $285 million acquisition of National Grid’s natural gas and electric distribution businesses in New Hampshire. The deal is adding more than 60 new full-time jobs within the state.
Liberty Utilities has already filled numerous new full-time positions and will be hiring additional employees in New Hampshire to complement staff that transferred to Liberty Utilities with the change of ownership.
“We have committed extensive resources to promote a smooth transition for all natural gas and electric customers. All aspects of localized customer care will be of the highest quality and will continue seamlessly. Customers will experience no disruption in service,” said Vic Del Vecchio, President of Liberty Utilities East.
Although customers will not notice immediate differences beyond the Liberty Utilities name on vehicles and their natural gas and electric bills, they can expect significant beneficial changes in the coming months.
“We will be establishing walk-in customer service centers at existing locations in the state over the next 18 to 24 months,” said Bill Sherry, Vice President of Customer Care for Liberty Utilities in New Hampshire. “Our goal is to deliver ‘best-in-class’ customer service at the local level, where we can provide quality face-to-face assistance.”
The final state and federal regulatory approvals needed to complete the transaction were granted this past May. The sale was originally announced in December 2010. “Liberty Utilities is very pleased to be doing business in New Hampshire,” said Del Vecchio. “Our experienced management team and responsive staff located here in New Hampshire are focused on safety, reliability and the delivery of a positive customer and community experience for years to come.”
Liberty Utilities’ 83,000 natural gas customers are located in 30 communities throughout the Merrimack Valley from Nashua to the Lakes Region, with a lesser amount in Berlin. Liberty will continue to maintain natural gas operations facilities in Nashua, Manchester and Tilton.
